Ruby Isabel Bayless maiden name Rice, passed away Monday, June 21, 1999, at her home. Friends and family may gather to remember Ruby Bayless and celebrate her life from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Noland Road Chapel, Independence, MO . Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Independence; burial in Blue Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Bayless was born April 3, 1921, the daughter of Lawson Claude and Grace Violet Rice; they preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her former husbands, J. Robert Browne, father of her children, in 1974, and Ralph Bayless , in 1986. She is mourned by her four children, Jacqueline Carol Christensen and her husband, Jim, Lee's Summit, MO , Robert Wesley Browne and his wife, Arlene, Sharpsburg, GA, Keith Harlan Browne and his wife, Debbie, Broken Arrow, OK, and George Gaylord Browne and his wife, Kathy, Blue Springs, MO . She was the beloved grandmother to nine grandchildren and great-grandmother to six great-greatgrandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Mrs. Bayless is also survived by two loving brothers, Herbert Eugene Rice and Paul Wesley Rice, and their families. She was a member of Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, Lee's Summit, MO , the Independence Center Mall Walkers, and Triple L. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling, cooking, sewing, discussing politics,and the company of family and friends. She retired from Montgomery Ward.
