Jean Egbert Daman, USMC retired, age 83, of Raleigh, formerly of Rockwell, passed away at his residence Monday, Nov. 2, 2009. Born April 7, 1926, in Monroe, Mich., he was the son of the late Leonard Arthur Daman and Eula Massey Daman. Educated in the Monroe, Mich., schools, he served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He later transferred to the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam. He achieved the rank of staff sergeant and retired after 30 years of military service. Mr. Daman is survived by his daughters ...; and sons .... Also surviving are 17 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, .... He was predeceased by three grandchildren. Service: Graveside services will be held Friday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. at the U.S. National Cemetery, Statesville Boulevard location, Salisbury, with military rites provided by the United States Marine Corps. Summersett Funeral Home is serving the Daman family.
