This indenture made this 19th day of December 1825 between Alvah James & his wife Rebecca James, Formerly Rebeccah Hodges, Elizabeth Hodges, legal heirs or representatives at law of Drury Hodges Deceased, of the one part and Welcome Hodges All of the county of Jefferson and State of Tennessee Witnessed that for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him the said Alvah James in hand by the said Welcome Hodges he the said James & Elizabeth Hodges as aforesaid hath granted bargained sold conveyed and confirm certain tract or parcel of land to the aforesaid Hodges his heirs and assigns forever the same lying and being in the county and state aforesaid containing by estimation thirty-seven acres be the same more or less the same lying in the therein tract and clearing the improvements and buildings whom the said Alvah James no lives and bounded as follows, the first tract supposed to be fifteen acres conveyed from Charles Hodges to Drury Hodges, Dec’d Beginning at a Stake and post Oak stump, running East Twelve poles to a stake, thence North sixty-five degrees East thirty poles to a stake on James Hodges line thence along his line North twenty-five degrees West forty-five poles to a post Oak on McGee’s line, thence along his line West twenty poles to a pine, thence South to the Beginning & the second tract that conveys from James Wood Lockey to Drury Hodges estimate to be twenty acres to the same more or less. As bounded as follows Beginning at a post oak stump the beginning corner of the 15-acre tract conveyed from Charles Hodges to Drury Hodges. Running North with the old line of Drury Hodges sixty poles to a pine Richard McGee’s line or corner then with his line South seventy-five west seventy-two poles to a stake then south twenty-five West seventy-two poles to a stake then south twenty-five west ten poles to a pine Charles Hodges tract then with his line south twenty-one east sixty poles to a stake in the agreed line between Drury and Charles Hodges then with said line to the Beginning. The third tract was conveyed from Callaway Hodges to Drury Hodges the number of acres not ___ in Deed Conveyance But supposed to be two acres and bounds as follows: Beginning at the will on a stake & post oak at the corner of the tract of fifteen acres that was conveyed to Drury Hodges from Charles Hodges fifteen acres running up the rock rise on a mark line to a post oak sapling then running North to a strapping? post oak then the same course to Drury Hodges line then said Hodges line to the beginning. Together with all and singular our Rights & Seals as the lawful heirs and legal representative so the said Drury Hodges De’cd.
To the aforesaid Welcome Hodges his Executors & Administrators forever free and clear from all incumbrances and lawful claims of any person or person whatsoever to the aforesaid Thirty-seven acres of land as afore mentioned and all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining In testimony whereof, now the said Alvah James & Elizabeth Hodges heirs of the aforesaid Drury Hodges Deceased hath hereunto set our hands and affixed our seals this day & year above written inter ___ before signed.

A deed conveyance from Alvah James Elizabeth Hodges & Rebecca James to Welcome Hodges for thirty seven acres of land lying & being in the county of Jefferson in three tracts bearing date the 19 Day of December 1825 was presented before m Joseph Hamilton Clerk of the County court of Jefferson for probate and thereupon came Joseph D. Hodges, Callaway Hodges two of the subscribing witnesses to the same who being duly sworn depose & say they are personally acquainted with Alvah James & Elizabeth Hodges two of the bargainers and that they heard them acknowledged the said Deed of Conveyance to be this act and deed for the purposes therein contained witness my hand at office in Dandridge 17 day of August 1836.

This indenture executed this 13th day of September one thousand eight hundred and forty-one between Welcome Hodges Frances Hodges Elizabeth Hodges Alvah James and his wife Rebecka James of the one part and Callaway Hodges of the other part all of the county of Jefferson and State of Tennessee Witnessed that the said Welcome Hodges and Frances Hodges, Elizabeth Hodges, Alvah James and his wife Rebecka James, for the consideration of four thousand dollars to them in hand paid to me in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and confirm unto the said Callaway Hodges his heirs and assigns forever to the tracts or parcels of land, one containing four hundred and thirty-five acres be the same more or less the other tract containing one hundred and fifty acres more less lying and being in the County of Jefferson in the state aforesaid on the waters of Beaver Creek ___ & recorded as follows Beginning on a Wild Cherry tree near the break of Beaver Creek on Callaway Hodges line Thence with said line South sixty-nine degrees East two hundred and fifty-two poles to a stake Brazelton’s covered in a hollow thence North One hundred and eighty-six poles to a stake on a hill near a White Oak sapling North forty-three West thirty-three poles to a white oak and a W___ in a sink hole. North sixty-five West thirty-seven poles to a stake thence North thirty-three West twelve poles to a stake Thence north twenty-three West with Joseph C.
