Kenneth Rayburn Johnson, son of Stanley and Teresa Rayburn Anderson, was born May 27, 1948, in Seattle, Washington. He departed this life Sunday, June 17, 2012, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, and twenty days.
On May 22, 1971, he was united in marriage to Patsy Ann Peckenpaugh, and to this union two daughters were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Patsy, on August 17, 2009.
Kenneth is survived by two daughters, Angela Butler, and her husband, Paul, of Springfield, Missouri, and Teri Wyatt, and her husband, Greg, of Avon, Connecticut; three grandchildren, Teka, Alec, and Sean; two great-grandchildren, Chloe, and Aryanna; six step-children; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Otto Johnson, of Bremerton, Washington; three sisters, Debi Larimore, of Lebanon, Missouri, Nancee Woodard, of Moses Lake, Washington, and Linda Roemmelt, of Granit Bay, California; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born into a military family, and was raised in various locations where his father was stationed. He entered the military as a young man, and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from 1965 until 1969. During those years he was stationed in various places including the Philippines and state side. After he and Patsy were married, they made their home in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and lovingly raised their daughters. Ken was trained as a boiler operator and also worked as a truck driver and locksmith. He was employed by the H. D. Lee Company for several years, and was currently working at Fort Leonard Wood.
Ken had professed his faith in Christ and was a very spiritual person. He was a member of Second Freewill Baptist Church.
He greatly enjoyed electronics and gadgets of all kinds. He liked making leather items and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed going to McDonald's every day to visit with friends. He possessed a big heart and was a very caring person. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ken was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them throughout the years.
