Obituary for Velma Maner Knight
Knight, Velma Maner, of Knoxville, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2015, at her home. Velma was 19 days from her 99th birthday. She was a resident in Fountain City, Knoxville most of her adult life. Velma was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love of flowers and books was passed on to each generation born in her family. Preceded in death by husband, Clayton Kenneth Knight; son, William “Billy” Knight; and great-granddaughter, Amanda Smith. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Caroll and Barbara Knight of Oak Ridge, TN, and Robert and Linda Knight of Knoxville; grandchildren including, Carole Anne Smith, Clayton Kenneth Knight, Richard David Knight of Knoxville, Laura Knight O’Shaughnessy of Utica, KY, Anna Knight Bane of San Jose, CA, Zachariah Knight of Oak Ridge, TN, and Sarah Nicole Knight of Knoxville, TN; great-grandchildren including, Benjamin Smith, Chelsea Smith, Ciara Knight, and Tia Knight all of Knoxville, TN, Jack and Cole O’Shaughnessy of Utica, NY; and caregivers including, Carolyn Baker and Carol Watkins. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm Sunday, January 11, 2014, at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Henry Carson officiating. The family and friends will meet at 10:45 am, Monday, January 12, 2014, at Stock Creek Cemetery for an 11:00 am interment service.
