MATHEWS - Kathleen Estelle Garrett Scott, 92, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away peacefully Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011. Kathleen was born May 8, 1918, and raised in Norfolk, where she met and married the love of her life for 68 years, Floyd A. Scott. They spent the majority of their lives together in the Edgewater section of Norfolk. Kathleen was deeply loved by her family. She was a devoted wife, caring mother, mentor and gracious grandmother. She was a kind and caring woman with a great sense of humor.
Kathleen was predeceased by her father, Jesse Councill Garrett; mother, Ada Ruth Dozier Garrett Gresham; stepfather, Earl T. Gresham; and brother, Councill Dozier Garrett. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Floyd Scott (Scotty); daughters, Peggy Grant and husband Stan, Jane Cargill and husband Bruce; and son, Lee Scott and wife Mary; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; as well as her sister-in-law and three nieces.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, Feb. 11, at 10:30 a.m. in Christ Church in Mathews, Va. Visitation will be at Foster Faulkner Funeral Home in Mathews today, Feb. 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside service will take place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Friday, Feb. 11, at 2:30 p.m., Granby St., Norfolk, Va. Expressions of sympathy can be made to: Riverside Hospice of Gloucester and Mathews/Mathews Humane Society.
