- Her father is very possibly William SANDRIDGE, Jr. who married Elizabeth GRAVES. He was the son of William, SR. and Ann PULLIAM. William, Sr. was the son of John SANDRIDGE who was christened in New Kent Parish, VA in 1697. This information is from Jean McGee e-mail: JeanCMcGee@aol.com (1999).
It was William II who changed the family name to Sandridge. He married Elizabeth Graves, b. 1720, in Spotsylvania County in the late 1740s. Their ten children were born between 1748 to 1762. Following WilliamÂ's death, Elizabeth accompanied her son John and his family to Green County, KY. She was buried there in 1826 at the age of 106. Two other sons, John and William, were members of the Revolutionary Army. Son Stephen, after moving to Albemarle Co., married Sarah ______ had seven children and moved to TN between 1810 and 1820.
Wife of Gideon Carr, Jr.Parents: William, II & Elizabeth Graves Sandidge. Children: Meekins, Dabney, John Bluford, Susannah, Anna, Nancy Elizabeth, Sally, Elizabeth, Martha, & Micajah Walter.Siblings: (According to my sources). Father, William Sandidge's will was contested in 1826. The summons (found in the Green County, Ky Court house) was July 22, 1826 and in the complaint, Ann Carr was listed as deceased. Actual dob & dod are unknown @ present. (Anyone is welcome to share info with sources).
* Some sources have listed Virginia as place of death but upon further investigation I find she may have died in Tennessee. If so,most likely, is buried @ Stuart Cemetery in Dickson County, Tennessee. Her husband and son, John Bluford Carr & wife are buried there.
*First name added after viewing copy of U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1500-1900, which lists her first name as Nancy. Supplied by fellow graver, Donna Lee Wall. Thanks, Donna.
