(Dee Cooley) John Wesley Atchley was the son of Joseph Atchley II and Rebecca 'Kerr' He was inducted into military service on the side of the Union during the Civil War. John was wounded during his time in the service and suffered from results of the wounds for the rest of his life. His first wife was Tabitah 'Wood' and they had three children.
