Byron "Barney" A. Scott Jr., 69, of Claremont passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Carolina Caring in Sherrills Ford.
He was born August 27, 1952 in Catawba County to the late Byron A. Scott Sr. and Alice Teague Scott. Barney was a graduate of St. Stephens High School. He was employed in the furniture industry for most of his life. Barney loved old cars, riding his Harley with his wife, Gale and dogs, mostly his Doberman, Zac. If you saw Barney, you saw Gale and Zac, they were a team.
Barney had many hardships in life, but he was a great friend and would help someone in need the best he could. He'd mow a yard or help take down a tree. The last years of his life, Barney was a caretaker to his mother and later to his wife Gale; the two women he loved and adored most in his life.

A service to celebrate Barney's life will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bennett Funeral Service, 7878 NC Hwy. 16, Newton, NC. will officiate. Rev. Kim Dowell will officiate. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park in Hickory.
