Enoch Pearson II was a soldier in the American Revolution.
Enoch II migrated with his family from Pennsylvania to South Carolina about 1765 as a surveyor. He joined the Patriot cause because of his earlier friendship in Pennsylvania with George Washington.
After seeing service in the 2nd South Carolina Spartan Militia Regiment under the command of Col Thomas Brandon, during the British Siege of Charleston (29 Mar 1780 - 12 May 1780) he died of wounds and "rigors of the war" sustained during that action while Charleston was still under siege.
His gravesite is on a high hill in the Sumter National Forest within Union County, SC, where 63 gravesites have been discovered, including other members of his family. Much credit is due Elton E. Pearson Sr, for finding this Pearson Cemetery, clearing it with help from others, and inventorying it on 1 Apr 1996. Also much credit is due H.K. Note: The name "Enoch" does not appear on his marker, only the initial "E. Pearson". His birth and death dates came from other historical records.
