Tabitha's first husband was Enoch Pearson II, a soldier in the American Revolution who died of wounds sustained during the Siege of Charleston.
During the American Revolution, Tabitha is credited with supplying provisions to Colonel Thomas Brandon's 2nd Spartan Regiment of South Carolina Militia.
After Enoch's death, Tabitha later married John Townsend whose plantation adjoined hers in Union District, SC.
