Edmund W. Loonsfoot died on June 20, 2012 in his home in Nixa, Missouri, surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Ed was born in Baraga, MI on October 21, 1922 and was a member of the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community of the Ojibwa Nation. Ed was a World War II veteran and a member of American Legion Post 676. He was a painting contractor in the Springfield area for over forty years and the employment specialist at the American Indian Center of Springfield for 27 years.
Ed was preceded in death by his son Tom; daughter Geneva and great-grandson Baby Mike. Ed is survived by his wife Betty; sons Cleyon, Wayne, Glen, Hank, Robert, Thomas, Jim and Bob; daughters Ella Mae, Gaile and Annette; 33 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and a "tribe" of family and friends.
Memorial services will be held in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Published in the News-Leader on June 23, 2012.
