LEECH - Died, of consumption, at her home in Union township, January 4, 1894, Mrs. Mary Isabella Leech, in the 64th year of her age.
The deceased was born in Rockbridge county, Virginia, March 28, 1830. She was married to Mr. Andrew Leech, November 17, 1853, and in 1859 they moved to Lucas county, Iowa, where they have since resided.
Seven children were born into the home, two of whom, John Alexander and Theodore Milton, are dead. The five living are Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ward, residing in Rice county, Kansas; Mrs. Rebecca Frances Joy, Wm. Franklin Leech, Mrs. Cora Bell Sutton and Mrs. Dora Virginia Irwin, all living in Lucas county, Iowa.
The deceased united with the Presbyterian church when 16 years of age and has since been sustained by a bright Christian hope. Since last July she has been stricken with consumption and gradually wasted away until God, in his providence, has called her to a better home.
After the beating storms of life have wasted her earthly tabernacle, she is now in the haven of peace, where there are no more storms, no more sickness, no more pain, no more tears, no more death.
The deep sympathy of friends and neighbors go out to the aged husband, now bereft of the companion and joy of his years, also to the five children who, in God's providence, are called upon to mourn the loss of a tender, affectionate mother.
The funeral services, conducted by Rev. W. C. Atwood, of Chariton, Iowa, were held in the Goshen church, after which the body was committed to mother earth in the Goshen cemetery to await the dawn of the resurrection day.
