  Rev Fr Leo Thomas Sweeney Jr. BIRTH 20 Jul 1932 Texarkana, Miller County, Arkansas, USA DEATH 29 May 1969 (aged 36) Arkansas, USA BURIAL Calvary Cemetery Texarkana, Miller County, Arkansas, USA MEMORIAL ID 31833597 Father Leo Thomas Sweeney Jr. was the son of Leo Thomas Sweeney Sr. and Ruth Sweeney nee DeFee. He and his father died in a tragic auto accident near Hope, Arkansas. His father is also buried here... Leo was educated in Texarkana by the Divine Providence Nun's that were in Texarkana in those days. He was one year at the Texarkana Junior College but then joined the U.S.Air Force and served in Korea during the that war. Honorable discharged 15 Aug 1954. He then attended St. John's Seminary in Little Rock, Ark. Ordained a Priest, 31 May 1962. He also attained his AB, MA, PHD and doctorate in Theology. At time of death Father Leo was asst. Pastor and also taught World History at the Catholic High School in Little Rock, Ark. Bishop Fletcher, Arch Bishop of the Little Rock Diocese at the time, explained that Father Leo was an up and coming young Priest and was looking forward to greater goals in life. Father Leo is buried in a special section where other departed Priest's are resting in Calvary Cemetery. Father Leo was a special man and a very special brother! Died much too soon...But God needed him.
