James and his siblings were the children of Hannah Hewitt and her husband JOHN Forrester who has been mis-identified in some pedigrees as JAMES Forrester. However the marriage record of Rowan Co, NC and land sales show that JOHN Forrester (not James) married Hannah Hewitt. Their oldest son James Forrester was namesake of his maternal grandfather James Hewitt. Hannah Hewitt's brother John Hewitt of Spartanburg Co, SC married Elinder Forrester, sister of John. Hannah and John Hewitt were children of James and Elizabeth Hewitt. John Forrester & Elinder Forrester Hewitt were children of Owen & Eleanor Forrester. He is named after his grandfather Hewitt!
