Kenneth William Foster of Smyrna died Saturday May 18, 2002 at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 58.
He was born in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Kenneth G. Foster and the late Catherine Foster. He later moved to Buhl, Idaho, and graduated from Castleford High School, Castleford, Idaho, in 1962.
Mr. Foster was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He met and married his wife while stationed at Dover Air Force Base.
After his tour of duty, he returned to Delaware and was employed by General Motors in Newport for 30 years. He retired in 1998. He was currently employed by NAPA in Smyrna.
Mr. Foster was a member of the VFW Post 8801, Clayton; the Middletown American Legion Post, and a former member of American Legion Post 14, Smyrna; the Smyrna-Clayton Moose Lodge; Harmony Lodge AF & AM, Smyrna; and a former member of the American Legion Ambulance Service, Smyrna, where he was instrumental in starting their billing system.
He enjoyed golf, fishing, auto racing, and flying.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sharon K. Foster; a son, Scott D. Foster of Clayton; a daughter, Tammy Smith (Robert) of Smyrna; two brothers, Robert Foster (Patricia) of Pocatello, Idaho and Richard Foster of Beaverton, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Eastman; nieces and nephews; and a grand-dog, Brandy.
Services were held May 22 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna.
Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
