John B. Garris married 4 times. He, lastly, married Priscilla Green Garris on 28 Jul 1880 in Shelby County, Alabama. They had 11 children, 7 of which were living in 1900. Some of these children, by this mother, were:
Benjamin Garris 1887 - 1923
Katie E. Garris Stripler or Shipler 1899 -
Mary Jane Garris 1894 -
Samuel Garris 1897 - 1983
Bell Garris 1900 -
Sally F. Garris Westbrook 1902 - 1983
Della Mae Garris Bates 1906 - 1967
From a previous marriage to Martha Rooch, to whom he was married 2 Nov 1863 in Polk County, Georgia, there was at least one daughter, Rachel Missouri Garris Pearson 1865 - 1921.
John served during the War Between the States, as a confederate soldier. He enlisted in May of 1861 in Cedartown, Polk County, Georgia. He was in Company D, 20th Georgia Regiment. He was injured in the battle of Manassas. His regiment surrendered 9 Apr 1865 at Appomatox Court House, Virginia.
His mother was Rachel Garris and his father's name is, as yet, unknown. His siblings were William, Henry, Rachel, and Zack, which is likely a partial listing.
I believe his wife, Pricilla, is likely buried at Old Antioch, as well, but have no proof. She was born about 1861 in Alabama and died 14 Mar 1943 in Floyd County.
